Pluot Galette

Has anyone been watching Top Chef Just Desserts? So far I am a big fan. Not only is it about desserts, but it has a whole lotta drama, which keeps me entertained :) I haven’t decided who I’m rooting for yet, but they all seem to be pretty good. I can’t imagine how challenging it must be to make desserts like that without a recipe. It should be interesting to see what type of challenges they have throughout the rest of the season.

Now on to the galette - when I saw pluots at my local grocery store I was super excited. I grew up eating fruits like pluots, mangos and Asian pears since my dad always had them in the kitchen. I thought a galette would be a great way to feature pluots since it isn’t too crust heavy. I used my favorite pie crust recipe then went from there.

Pluot Galette
Ingredients:
5 cups pitted, sliced pluots
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon apricot jam
1 – 12in pie crust

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.

Place prepared pie crust on a baking sheet.

In a bowl mix together sugar, flour and apricot jam. Add pluots and gently toss to coat. Place pluot mixture into the center of pie crust leaving about a 2-in border. Fold the border over the pluot mixture.

Bake for 45 min or until mixture is bubbly and crust is golden.
