First things first – I need to announce the winners of this weeks Duncan Hines giveaway! I loved hearing everyone’s favorite things to bake for the holidays! You guys have some pretty good traditions.
To keep it fair and unbiased I used the oh-so technical random number generator from Random.org to select the winners. So without further ado here are the results:
The winners are Rodi, Jessica Loken and Emily! Please email me at FoodieMisadventures(at)gmail(dot)com with your address so I can send the coupons your way!
At the Taffy Pull party I hosted last Saturday I made some peppermint syrup to go along with the old fashioned soda bar. This is a really easy syrup to make and it’s perfect for the holidays. I think it would be great added into a cup of hot coffee, perhaps to make your own peppermint mocha or even shaken into a holiday martini. And there is my personal favorite: a tablespoon of syrup stirred into a mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and crushed candy cane :)
Peppermint Syrup
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups water
3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon pure peppermint extract
Directions:
In a small pot, bring water and sugar to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract. Pour into a bottle to store. Refrigerate if desired, to extend shelf life.

Will you make me peppermint hot cocoa? Also I have a project I want to undertake and you'd be a perfect partner in crime. In a book series I read the author drinks the "good stuff" a dark chocolate chili pepper cocoa....we should make it!
ReplyDeleteI will gladly make you some peppermint hot cocoa! And that dark chocolate chili pepper cocoa sounds divine - we should definitely take a crack at it :)
