Onto day 3 – spent at Disney's Magic Kingdom
To get to the entrance of the park we had to take the monorail to get there since magic kingdom is basically on an island (I think its pretty cool!).
First think in the morning it was already raining..poncho time
Us ladies shared the bench while the guys stood, how sweet :)
With some good luck and a solid game plan we were able to hit pretty much all of the rides in the park – minus the ones that we aimed at small children (i.e. the Dumbo ride).
The tomorrowland speedway ride was lots of fun – however I am a little surprised we weren't scolded by the employees when we got off. Lance and I shared a car – and we were in front of the other two couples. Lances genius idea was to drive slow to “block” the others since we were all on the same track. Since these cars were smaaall I took the drivers seat and did the steering while Lance used the pedals.
I got yelled at more than once by Lance to focus on driving and to not take pictures instead haha. Lets just say we can a few fender benders on the track (mostly from Lance suddenly letting off the gas..and others not noticing) It was lots of fun!
While at Magic Kingdom Jessica and I had one goal – to find some Dole Whip. We didn’t really know what it was, but I knew that I wanted it! Luckily we happened to spot a stand selling it when we were headed to the Jungle Cruise.
It was pure pineapple heaven! It was a pineapple soft serve ice cream topped with pineapple juice – basically a pineapple float. They were a perfect cool and creamy treat to enjoy in the Florida heat. Another one of my favorite Disney snacks.
We took a small break in the afternoon to snooze in the Hall of Presidents (read: air conditioning) – actually the boys all fell asleep within minutes but us girls watched the show. The whole day flew by and we didn’t have to wait to get on a ride for more than 20 min – which was awesome! We did however get stuck on a few rides – Splash Mountain for 45 min…which ended up being quite comical when they kept cutting off their automated recording making it sound like cuss words. I guess that’s what adults find humorous at Disney..
We even made the boys ride “It’s a Small World”…all sitting on the same bench…in a pink boat..then took a picture to document it. Pure awesomeness :)
Day 4
We spent day 4 at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure theme park (this is the one with the Harry Potter stuff)
The Harry Potter portion of the park was really cool! They put so much detail into every part of it and the rides were cool too. But it was really crowded in that area of the park. There were lines to get into some of the shops..so I had a hard time sticking around over there for very long.
I also discovered pretty early in the day that my camera was broken. When I would turn it on, it froze and wouldn’t do anything. The lens even got stuck out (which was very difficult to pack to take back home!). I was totally bummed - mostly because I couldn’t torture my friends by taking pictures of their food haha. And at this point I wasn’t smart enough to pull out my phone for photos.
Man oh man was it a hot day though – no rain, just humidity. Humidity is worse without rain, never sweat so much in my life. But we did manage to eat at a really delicious restaurant for dinner. It was called Mythos. It had really good food and was not outrageously priced at all. Win! I wish I had some pictures to share, but the restaurant was so cool too – it looked like we were inside a cave.
Overall it was a fun filled day! Stay tuned for my final recap of our Orlando trip later this week!
