I’m back from vacation! It was tons of fun but oh so exhausting! Here is a quick recap of the first day! (technically 2 if you include travel..)
We ended up booking a red eye flight to Orlando so that we could have as much daytime possible for visiting theme parks – what on earth were we thinking?!? Our flight left Phoenix at 12:00 am on Sunday night – we had a layover in Atlanta – then arrived in Orlando around 10:30 am on Monday.
While Jessica and I were waiting at the Phoenix airport we stopped in a shop to grab some water – I stumbled upon these made by Project 7 and I was intrigued. Since they were the same price as most of the other water at the airport I decided to get one since part of the profit from the water goes to the cause of your chosen bottle. I picked the “Feed the Hungry” bottle and Jessica got the “Heal the Sick” one. I thought they were pretty cool!
Finally on the plane and ready to get to Orlando!
During our layover in Atlanta we grabbed breakfast from Atlanta Bread Company – we had some yummy breakfast sandwiches. I was slightly impressed since it was airport food :)
We weren't able to check into our hotel room until later in the afternoon so we checked our luggage and headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios park!
In true Orlando fashion it was raining when we arrived – but that didn’t slow us down! We spent the whole afternoon going from ride to ride. Even though I was scared, I rode the Hollywood Tower of Terror ride – it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Overall I liked this park – it had a cool old Hollywood feel to it
For dinner we decided to eat at the 50’s Prime Time Café that was inside the theme park. It was a really neat restaurant – it felt like we were inside the a 50’s home for dinner.
Isn’t my husband attractive? haha We were all so hungry after a loong day of travel and walking around the theme park all day - I think we were all glad to be sitting down to eat!
I stated off by ordering a Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake – man was it delicious! The perfect balance of peanut butter and jelly.
For dinner I ordered the Fried Chicken and Lance got the Meatloaf. Two of the others ordered those as well and the rest other two got prime rib and the sampler. Everyone enjoyed their meals! It tasted home cooked and I think Disney did a wonderful job transforming the restaurant – from the TV's showing classic old shows in black and white to the waitresses scolding us for not eating our veggies, it was a ton of fun!
The restaurant had so much charm and was really decorated to the T. Here is a picture of the kitchen you see when you first walk in.
Isn’t this refrigerator awesome??
After dinner we headed back to our hotel. We were staying at the Royale Parc Suites in Kissimmee and we had a 2 bedroom suite. We were all a little nervous about the hotel before arriving since it was so cheap but we were pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t a 5 star hotel but it definitely wasn’t bad! Plus we can’t complain about the free breakfast and free shuttle to the parks :)
Stay tuned for parts 2, 3 & 4 about the rest of our trip!
